About the DACOR Bacon House Foundation

The DACOR Bacon House Foundation was established for the purpose of contributing to the development of mutual international understanding and the strengthening of ties between the people of the United States and other nations.  To this end it pursues programs of a public and educational nature to enhance public awareness and foster educated leadership in international affairs.

The late Virginia Murray Bacon bequeathed DACOR Bacon House, the historic building where the Foundation is located, in 1980 to the Bacon House Foundation as a memorial to her husband, U.S. Representative Robert Low Bacon of New York.  The Bacon House Foundation was formed in 1975 and merged with the DACOR Education and Welfare Foundation in 1985.  Mrs. Bacon’s objectives were to provide a meeting place “to facilitate international peace and understanding by bringing together leaders in the field of foreign policy and international relations and law for the purpose of defining and resolving international problems.”  The House is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
