DACOR Fellows and Scholars 2011-2012
Foreign Service Dependent Scholarships
The DACOR Bacon House Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients for the 2011-2012 academic year of Heyward Gibbes Hill Memorial Scholarships, Virginia Thurgood Bingham Scholarships, and Harriet C. Thurgood Memorial Scholarships for undergraduate students interested in pursuing studies in foreign affairs. This program of need-based grants for children of Foreign Service members, administered by the American Foreign Service Association, will provide scholarship aid totaling $40,000 to 15 students this year. DACOR extends its congratulations to these outstanding young scholars and wishes them a successful academic year.

Metro Undergraduate Scholarships
The Foundation awarded six $5,000 undergraduate scholarships through the Heyward Gibbes Hill Memorial and the Ambassador G. McMurtrie Godley Fellowship Metro Scholarship program to students pursuing degrees in foreign affairs. Special consideration is given to minority applicants. Each university chooses its recipient. Congratulations to more outstanding scholars.

Scholarships have once again been awarded to children or grandchildren of Foreign Service Officers, active or retired, through the generous bequest of Ambassador Louis G. Dreyfus, Jr. Students attending The Hotchkiss School or Yale University are eligible. The Dreyfus awards totaled $40,000 this year. DACOR congratulates the following winners:

The Education Committee is pleased to announce that ten Foundation Fellowships were awarded to graduate students in foreign affairs. Committee members met with candidates from ten universities. The selection process was very competitive and difficult. These graduate students were chosen based on their interviews, academic performance, and personal accomplishments.
