DACOR, Inc & DACOR Bacon House Foundation

The Executive Director will act as the Chief Operating Officer of DACOR and the DACOR Bacon House Foundation. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the administration and implementation of programs and of the Strategic Plan of the organization. Other major responsibilities include fundraising and membership recruitment. This position reports through the Executive Committee to the Board of Governors/Trustees.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties - DACOR​​

Board Governance – Works with the Board of Governors and its Executive Committee to fulfill DACOR’s mission.

  • Responsible for leading DACOR staff in support of the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Governors.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board of Governors and providing in a timely manner all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions. This includes organizing Board meetings, monthly Executive Committee meetings, and the Annual Members’ Meeting, plus special meetings as called.
  • Ensures that all Executive Committee and Board decisions comply with DACOR bylaws, and enforce policies established by the Board of Governors.

Finance – Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization

  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of DACOR, to include submitting to the Board of Governors a proposed annual budget and monthly performance reports which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Responsible for budgetary and fiscal management that anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures optimal resource utilization and maintain the organization in a positive financial position.
  • Works with DACOR’s Development Committee on fundraising and developing other resources necessary to support DACOR’s mission, including donor cultivation, and grant proposal preparation.

Organization Operations – Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate.

  • Responsible for effective administration of DACOR’s operations.
  • Oversee the implementation of human resource policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
  • Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization within Board-approved limits.

Membership – Oversees and implements recruitment plan of DACOR members.

  • Responsible for the design and implementation of a new membership recruitment plan in conjunction with the Membership Committee.
  • Coordinate with the ad hoc sub-committee meeting of the Executive Committee that adjudicates “non-conforming” membership applications.
  • Implement the new member on-boarding plan.
  • Attend functions organized by DACOR (weekdays, weeknights, and weekends) to serve as the official representative of the organization of DACOR if DACOR officers are unable to do so.
  • Oversee and coordinate the publication of the monthly DACOR Bulletin and other DACOR publications, and all social media platforms.

Committees – Serve as ex-officio member on all DACOR committees

  • Assist all DACOR Committees in fulfilling their missions and in furthering the DACOR Strategic Plan.
  • Ensure that committee recommendations are presented to the Board of Governors through the Executive Committee

Ad Hoc – Perform additional duties as directed by the Board, Executive Committee and President.


Primary Responsibilities and Duties - DACOR Bacon House Foundation

Board Governance – Works with the Board of Trustees to fulfill the DBHF mission.

  • Responsible for leading DBHF staff in support of the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Trustees.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board of Trustees and providing in a timely manner all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions. DBHF Board meetings are in conjunction with the DACOR Board meetings.
  • Ensure that all Executive Committee and Board decisions comply with DBHF bylaws, and enforce policies established by the Board of Trustees.

DACOR Bacon House – Oversees the administration and operations of DBHF’s historic facility, a unique resource that is essential to the successful mission of DACOR and the DBHF. 

  • Responsible for the advancement of DBHF’s historic mansion through preservation, property care, education, and advocacy.
  • Work to identify new sources of funding for the care of DACOR Bacon House.
  • Promote DACOR Bacon House as a venue for events, meetings, and conferences.
  • Oversee the Museum and its collection in conjunction with the volunteer curator.

Legacy Society – Works to build on the successful bequest society to secure future funding.

  • Manage the DBHF Legacy Society.
  • Cultivate future donors to the Legacy Society.
  • Ensure that funds from the Legacy Society are applied as intended by the donor.

Fellowships and Scholarships – Monitor and ensure the integrity of the DBHF scholarship programs, it’s endowment funds, and policies.
